Interview with the Cast + Director of Smurfs: The Lost Village

Last week, I attended the Press Junket for Sony Pictures Animation's upcoming film, Smurfs: The Lost Village, which is out this Friday, April 7th. In attendance were Director Kelly Asbury (Nosy Smurf), Joe Manganiello (Hefty Smurf), Demi Lovato (Smurfette), Ariel Winter (Smurflily), and Jack McBrayer (Clumsy Smurf).

Here's the synopsis of the fully animated film:
In this film, a mysterious map sets Smurfette (Demi Lovato) and her best friends Brainy (Danny Pudi), Clumsy (Jack McBrayer) and Hefty (Joe Manganiello) on an exciting and thrilling race through the Forbidden Forest filled with magical creatures to find a mysterious lost village before the evil wizard Gargamel does.  Embarking on a rollercoaster journey full of action and danger, the Smurfs are on a course that leads to the discovery of the biggest secret in Smurf history!

The highlight from the interview was Joe Manganiello's answer to my question:
"Since The Smurfs is being introduced to a whole new generation, what message do you want kids to be left with?" As a boy mom of two, I hope his answer regarding Hefty's message, to be chivalrous and to always protect the one you love will be instilled in them.

"We do the right thing." - Hefty Smurf

The cast + director also talked about new Smurf characters, empowerment, voice acting challenges (like grunting), and Easter Eggs to look for in the film. But when you put Mom Bloggers together, there's gonna be lots of laughs too - so make sure to scroll down to watch the full interview, thanks to People Magazine!
