UNO Fiesta || Birthday Party

Last month we celebrated Ronan's First Birthday with a fiesta at Roxbury Memorial Park in Beverly Hills. I rented the picnic pavilion since it was going to be a beautiful May day for the kids to run & play outside. I kept his birthday simple with party supplies from Oriental Trading Company, Party City, and LA's Pinata District

The birthday boy wore an "i Hola" onesie from Mix-Up Clothing paired with leggings and huaraches (Mexican leather sandals) I bought from a kiosk shop in Olvera Street. And if you follow my probably always see Ronan wearing bibdanas from We Are Minors

Thanks to Oriental Trading Company, the kids had a blast playing and crafting with their fiesta goodies. Our mini guests decorated DIY Wood Maracas with markers + stickers and got silly with mustaches!  I was going to make my own Papel Picado, like the ones pictured here, but that would have been destroyed in seconds because it was windy. So I'm was happy OTC sent me a Fiesta themed cutout banner (plastic) durable and it looked beautiful has a backdrop!

The Dessert table was filled with Mexican candies from the Pinata District, Customized Donuts (Fantastic Donuts), Vanilla Celebration Birthday Cake (Susie Cakes) and cactus shot glasses were filled with goldfish crackers. Not pictured: ALL the kids behind us-waiting patiently for pictures to be taken. LOL

We love Mexican food here...that's the main reason I wanted to have a fiesta theme! I had my friend Jackie of  Super Sauce LA take care of the food...and she did not disappoint! I just wish I had pictures of the Nacho Bar (aargh!) to share here! Guests got to make either nachos or burritos with the amazing ground beef she made. There was also rice, beans, shredded chicken and for the picky eaters, she made a creamy Mac n' Cheese using Trader Joe's new Trofie Colore Macaroni (so good). And of course there was her amazing Guacamole that she incorporates hemp seeds! There was also a platter of fresh frutas she beautifully prepared and guests got to top it with Tajin! I made refreshing Watermelon with Cucumber Agua Fresca and kept guests cool with Avocado Chocolate Chip & Watermelon Basil Pops from Si Palatas.

Since the park has a "No Pinatas" policy, I ordered these "Pinata" bags from OTC and filled them with goodies and more treats (Mexican candies, hairy mustaches, mustache whistle, nail polish for the girls, and light up toy for the boys). It probably worked out better since every kid got the same amount of pinata goodies...without the mess!

It's ALWAYS a good sign when the dessert table is destroyed! Thank you so much to our friends and family who came and helped us make Ronan's memorable!
